At Pure Chiropractic we understand that Massage is a key part of healing as it helps the body to detox whilst improving the tension and stress held in our muscles. Like our Chiropractors our massage therapists use a combination of different therapeutic and energetic techniques to address the physical and emotional stresses causing tension in our bodies and holding us back from reaching that deep relaxation and healing state.
Most of our clients combine massage and chiropractic care as it improves the overall results you experience from your massage. However we do welcome stand alone massage clients to our practice. Whether you are new to the practice or not, all massage clients start their massage journey with an initial consultation. This is a specific time allocated before your first massage appointment to allow you to connect with your massage therapist or for them to fully understand your needs and goals with your massage care.
We normally recommend a course of massage care so your massage therapist can get to know your body and understand what techniques will work best to get you to where you want to be.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage will support mum-to-be on a physical and an emotional levels. Pregnancy massage is tailored specifically for the mum-to-be and is a gentle, relaxing massage using Swedish massage techniques, acupressure, lymphatic drainage and stretches ensuring that you receive the best possible experience for both Mum and baby. You can receive massage care at any stage of your pregnancy and we provide a specific pregnancy pillow to allow you to be able to lie on your front during your massage so you can get the full relaxation experience.
We offer 30 minute and 60 Minute Massages in all areas except Pregnancy which requires 60 minutes. If you’re looking for one area to be massage such as neck and shoulders then we recommend 30 minutes but for 2 areas or full body 60 minutes is more suitable. if you’re new to our center your initial massage will have allocated time at the start for initial consultation with your massage therapist. This will allow them to understand your needs and goals for the massage so they can support you in the best way possible.

What is the difference between massage therapy and sports massage?
Massage therapy is a general term for a variety of techniques used to improve healing, relax muscles, improve circulation, and relieve stress. Sports massage, on the other hand, focuses on preventing and treating sports-related injuries, improving athletic performance, and aiding recovery after exercise. Sports massage often involves deeper pressure and targeted techniques to release muscle tension and improve flexibility.
What issues can massage therapy help with?
Massage therapy can help relieve a range of physical and emotional issues, including:
- Muscle tension and stiffness
- Back, neck, and shoulder pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Poor posture
- Stress and anxiety
- Poor circulation
- Joint mobility issues
- Recovery from injury
How often should I have a massage?
The ideal frequency depends on your individual needs and lifestyle. Before you start massage care at Pure Chiropractic you will receive a consultation either with the Chiropractor or your massage therapist to determine how many sessions and the frequency required to achieve your goals. Typically most people start sessions more closely together and then transition to a more maintenance basis of once per month.
Can massage therapy help with back pain?
Yes, massage therapy is highly effective for relieving back pain and this is why most our clients combine chiropractic care with massage therapy. It helps to release muscle tension, improve blood flow to the affected area, and reduce inflammation. Regular massage sessions can also help to improve posture and prevent recurring pain.
Will massage therapy hurt?
Massage therapy should not be painful,to achieve relaxation of the muscles we need your body to be in a relaxed state, not one of stress and pain caused by massage that is too deep for your body to handle. This is why we provide more holistic deep tissue massage rather than sports massage at Pure chiropractic . Your therapist will adjust the pressure to your comfort level and communicate with you throughout the session to ensure a positive experience.
How long does a massage session last?
Massage sessions typically last between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the type of massage and the areas being treated.
Can massage therapy help with stress and anxiety?
Yes, massage therapy is known to reduce stress and anxiety by lowering cortisol levels and increasing the production of serotonin and dopamine. It promotes relaxation and helps to improve sleep quality.
What should I do after a massage session?
After a massage, it's important to:
- Drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins
- Rest and avoid strenuous activity for a few hours
- Apply heat or ice packs if recommended by your therapist
- Stretch gently to maintain muscle relaxation
Is massage safe during pregnancy?
Yes, pregnancy massage is generally safe when performed by a qualified therapist who understands the specific needs of pregnant women. Pregnancy massage is designed to reduce stress, relieve muscle tension (particularly in the lower back and hips), and improve circulation. However, it’s important to let your therapist know how far along you are and any specific health concerns before the session.
What are the benefits of pregnancy massage?
Pregnancy massage can help relieve many of the discomforts associated with pregnancy, including:
- Lower back pain and sciatica
- Swollen ankles and feet
- Muscle tension and leg cramps
- Stress and anxiety
- Poor sleep and fatigue
It also helps to promote relaxation and improve overall well-being, which can positively impact both the mother and baby
